The inauguration of the fifth edition of the Sine Dolore World Park, an event held this afternoon in the auditorium of the Hotel Occidental Menorca, was attended by the mayor of Sant Lluís, Montse Morlà, the vice president of the Consell Insular de Menorca, Cristina Gómez , the mayor of Es Castell, Lluís Camps, the president of the Permanent Commission of the Consortium of the Military Museum of Menorca, Colonel Javier Castro and the President of the Official College of Physicians of the Balearic Islands, Dr. Manuela García, as well as numerous public motivated for the most part by the interest that has led to the keynote address "Medicine in the time of the Templars", given by Dr. Ignacio Velázquez, Vice President of the Andalusian Society of Pain.
Undoubtedly, the dissertation of Dr. Velázquez has not left anyone indifferent, with episodes in which he has shown that "from the eleventh century to the fifteenth century appears the healing profession and at that time the schools of medicine were born of Salerno and, the most innovative, that of Bologna ".
Dr. Jordi Moya, president of the Sine Dolore European Pain Foundation, a non-profit foundation that organizes each year (and this is the fifth one) the Sine Dolore World Park, has reiterated once again the importance that can be celebrated in Menorca every year, at the beginning of the tourist season, the only theme park in the world against pain and quality of life. In addition, he said that, as announced in the previous edition of the park, this year all people suffering chronic persistent pain and are these days in Menorca have had the opportunity to receive personalized medical advice given by doctors of prestige at the level National and international. This initiative has had the support of the We Doctor platform, an online platform that will allow the doctor and the patient to maintain contact later to generate and / or obtain medical recommendations on a frequent, consistent and valuable basis based on each relevant detail of their medical records and with strong system support.
The opening ceremony ended with the tasting of traditional products from the gastronomy of Menorca offered by the companies Gin Xoriguer and the Regulatory Council of Formatge amb Denominació d'Origen Mahón-Menorca.
In addition, tomorrow will start the most important scientific activity of Sine Dolore World Park, the XIV Mediterranean Multidisciplinary Pain Forum, VIII European Multidisciplinary Pain Meeting and VI International Congress of Pain EFHRE, an international and multidisciplinary medical congress that will bring together prestigious doctors of all the specialties involved in the treatment of chronic persistent pain. It is important to highlight the attendance at the forum of Dr. Kayode Williams because he is an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, one of the most important hospitals in the world.
The attendance of prestigious doctors to this congress allows us to organize another of the most important activities of the Sine Dolore World Park, the "Sine Dolore International School for family and patients with pain", a series of short lectures given by these specialists in the field of pain in which they will explain, with an easily understandable language, topics related to chronic pain and with the particularity that doctors will be able to interact with attendees. These presentations will be carried out in unison in all municipalities of Menorca tomorrow, Friday from 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday, May 4, at 7:00 pm at the Main Theater of Mahón, the Grand Sine Dolore Gala will take place as the closing ceremony of the IV Sine Dolore World Park 2018. The show "Músiques que combaten mals" will gather the voices on stage by María Camps, Elena Carreras, Jenny Hepworth, Jaume Gelabert and Jaume Olives, accompanied by Birgit Euler (violin), Mónica Preto (piano), Mercedes González (flute and accordion), Tolo Mercadal, Ionas Mercadal, Ariadna Mercadal and Xavier Mercadal ( clarinets), as well as the Ute Dahl dance school. Jordi Odri will present the gala under the direction and on the piano of Marlén Coll. Entrance is free and open.
The Gala will end with the presentation of the scientific prizes Padre Vicente Macián and Dr. Luis Aliaga and, in addition, a tribute will be paid to the doctors who supported the creation of Sine Dolore 15 years ago and who have supported the Forum Sine Dolore since then.
